a good kill but i gotta ask what times are you running? i know a few local 305 sn92 equipped rides with the other usual bolt ons only run in the mid to low 13's around 105-6 mph. any year viper can run in the 12's at well over 110. just wondering if the guy was even trying. even if he spun he shoulda blew right past you by 100. good kill anyways!

There was a Viper at the track one day running 12.4s with slicks, and I don't know what else.

A friend of mine has an LS1 with a 7lb Procharger, other than that it is a stock auto with 3.23 gears, and he went 11.6 last time at the track. Granted thats an LS1, and your friend has a 305, but they are the same block essentially and your friends got more mods. I believe you and agree that the Viper was into it.

Nice Kill.

the last time the car was at the track, which was over a year ago it ran a 12.5, with the 3.42 rear end. Now the 3.73's are in there. I dont know if thats going to make a big difference or not, but we will find out pretty soon when the track opens up.

i'm not trying to be mean i just want you to know that the LS1 and any other chevy small block are not anything alike. ok so they have pistons and cam but nothing, i repeat, nothing is interchangable.
the LS1 was designed to be a race engine. the way the heads are set up there is very little turning the air has to do to get into the cylinders making it easy to get big hp numbers.
my friend dropped almost a second off his time by just swapping to a 3500 stall. traction wasn't a problem either time because he didn't spin on either runs that are being compared. i don't know of another stock small block that you can do that to.
unlike where you can make the LT1 (Gen2) intake fit a Gen 1 block you can't make a LS1 intake fit a Gen1 or a Gen2 block

Comparing a 305 or even a 350 to a LS1 is like comparing camaros to porsches..... Yea it has the same cubic inches, maybe cam and pistons but what else?????
I agree with smokin87IROC and I have been in the car that he is talking about, I have been in a LT1 car with some mods and a 305 and a carbed 350 car and the LS1 car made me want to pee my pants and the others did not, Like smokin said its made to be a race engine.
No flames intended

bone stock ls1+air lid+drag radials+150 shot= easy 11's at over 115 mph. do that with a 305.

well if an LS1 one is for racing, it definitly isn't drag racing. I raced a '98 vette automatic in my grand cherokee a couple weeks ago. we pulled up to a light, and I reved it up to see what he'd do. He rolled down the window, and we agreed to run'em, as he laughed. I launched hard, and beat him to 53mph. After that he caught, and passed me, but for one it is a vette, it should have beed ahead the whole time. Two, the race was over anyway, cause someone pulled out infront of me as he caught me, and I had to brake. He caught me at the next light and asked if I had a blower, lol. If it had been a camaro, I bet I could beat it 0-60mph before it wasted me. but I am 0-60 in the 6's, lol. Wish my RS was that fast!

I'm sorry I have a hard time beliveing that a 'charged 305 beat a V10 Viper. I don't care. I have seen these cars run. Either he was not tring, or he did not feel like racing. Depending on the year of the beast it has way over 400 HP stock. With that charger your looking around 400. And just to point out that no Viper has ever run a decent 1/4 mile time. There not 1/4 mile racers STOCK. They CAN'T keep the rear tires from spinning, even though they are over 14 inches wide!.

Yeah, I think either low 12's or higher 11's now.
