Almost got caught with my pants down...race with a Camaro SS

On my way home tonight, Amelia and I were coming down Hull St. and I pulled up to a stoplight next to one of the newer SS Camaro's. When the light turned green we both took off. I had to ease into the throttle because I was on street tires, but when I saw that I wasn't pulling on him I got anxious. By the time I got into the top of 1st gear I'd floored it and started to spin pretty bad so I eased back out of it and then got back on it when they stopped spinning. We were neck and neck when I shifted into 2nd, with a bark of the tires. Slowly I started to ease away from him up until I let off at the top of 2nd. I probably didn't have any more on him than a car and a half at the most because of of not being able to give it full throttle in first gear. Next time out, I WILL be on drag radials

Impressive, not to take away from you, just wondering, don't the SS's pull a lot harder at higher speeds rather than take off?

Yea, they do...but I'm not too worried about a stock LS1 on the top end. Didn't have any problems hanging with them through the backhalf of the 1/4 last season and my car is substantially faster this season. I'll have some updated ET's Friday night.

The LS1's are definitly top end cars. When my IROC had only exhaust mods and a couple other free things I could hang through first and second then when 3rd gear came they were gone. 3rd gear in those cars is when it wakes up and just starts to really pull.
