Hey guys, remeber a while back i told my friends dad ( rich doctor) wanted to supercharge his 99 GT, well now he saw and read about the new Cobra hitting the showrooms in May. Well he's 99.9% sure to get it. Just need the car to be shipped here in Quebec.

So with 390 hp and ? torque, would any350 TPI be able to take him|? Espacially me ???

if i remember correctly. those cars run low 13's (13.0-13.2). i dont mean to sound negative, but you'll probably lose....

likely the best way to run with a supercharged cobra would be a procharged tpi
i am not saying it is not possible N/A though

i dont think theres a whole lot you would be able to do aside from a serious power adder to keep you close with that cobra, its just 15 years newer, alot more technologically advanced

They are also under rating them. So it might say 390 but it may be close to that at the wheels from what i have heard. Bcause I was talking to my friend with a 2001 Cobra and he was telling me about it. And I heard it is very easy to get the enigne to 500 horsepwer. So I dont think you can beat them because they are way under rated like the LS1's are.

Fords not known for underrating but with the Cobra, I heard they wanted to keep it under 400 hp rating. I was also told they would be in the 12s without too much effort and cost $35,000. I don't think many stock 350s would keep up, but a modded one probably would. I think you would get beat by one.

Im sure ford has learned its lesson about OVERRATING the cobras...so expect everything to be making AT LEAST advertised power.

That car will be a VERY low 13/high 12 second car stock. If a good driver and a 320hp cobra can be low 13's, I would be shocked if these DIDNT hit 12's off the line. And more power is as easy as changing a pulley. I have a feeling traction will be the biggest problem with these cars. It will be interesting to see how the IRS setup puts the power down.

You'll get smoked!

not much problem with the traction either,I test drove a '98 SVT and it hooked very well. it would be difficult to get the wheels to chirp without strait dumping the clutch. I test drove a '95 Z28 and I was completly disgusted with it's traction.......or no traction.

The 99+ Cobras have a different suspension that the '98 and earlier models. Rumor has it that Paul's High Performance dyno'd one of the pre-production '03's and it put 360 to the wheels. After removing the stock catback and running an open H pipe, it dyno'd at over 400 to the wheels. Remember, they're still putting a 2 1/4" exhaust behind a 400+ hp motor.

They are only pushing 8psi on an 8.5 compression motor. A smaller blower pulley and a freer exhaust will push the cars well over 400HP. Of course you can't be sure til they hit the showroom floors.

I'd say AT LEAST mid 12's if you can drive. (wishful thinking)

Well Im going to sound negative. You will get your butt spanked! Those are LS1 eaters. You will lose horribly. 6-speed, 390 ftlb torque = bye bye.

Word on the Corral is that Evan Smith had one at E Town last night and ended up running 12.6x @ 109 granny shifting.

damn that guy can drive. im sure if he shifted the way he usually does (i hear he breaks Ford test cars all the time, so he probably went easy), he could have gotten low 12s out of it. Thats Z06 territory. yikes!

Can't wait to see what happens when he's allowed to beat the **** out of the car in a run with slicks. I also wonder what a pulley and exhaust can do for the car

JDM Performance seems to think 11's are just a chip away.

I wouldn't doubt a chip would help. The new Ford chips seem to have problems with higher hrose applications. Evan Smith is probably one of the most skilled drivers out there, and the nice thing is he doesn't care what he drives, he makes everything fast.
