LS1 vs ME
I am almost done with my crate swap (2 days and counting). Here is what i am looking at when i am done, will i be able to beat the average LS1?
350HO Crate Engine (330 horse, 380 torque stock), Performer Intake and Carb
No Smog whatsoever, dropped A/C, dropped Cruise + backseats
Mallory Unilite Comp 9000 Distributer w/ Accel Spiral Cores and MSD Blaster 2 Coil
Hedman Ellite Ceramic Headers
True Dual Exhaust w/ 2 1/4 Pipes and Dual Dynomax ultra flows
Turbo 350 w/ transgo shift kit and 2500 stall and 3.73's
15" by 10" Weld Pro Stars with 275/50/15 Radial T/A's on the back and 15 by 8's on the front.
Do you guys think i will be able to take your run of the mill ls1? i am hoping yes but ls1's do some cool things. what do you guys guess my 1/4 is?

Pretty good little set of heads. I really don't know a whole lot about the crate motors out nowadays. I'd say if you can find a way to hook, you ought to have a chance. Depends on the LS1 too. I have watched a 2002 run 14.40's @ the track all day. But, then I saw another one run 13.50's all day. So it depends. Good little motor ya got though. Drive it like you stole it b/c they probably won't!!
Hmmm,
Im not sure if you'll be able to beat a LS1...but you'll definetly have a good performing car. With the setup you are running you may actually get close to the 330hp advertised claim.
Here is what will hold you back (from beating a LS1)
-cam, isnt the best if you are keeping the stock piece
-your first gear is much deeper than any LS1 car (4L60E or T56)
Now that I think about it, thats about all there is. You should be able to leave the line hard with your torque converter...but if traction becomes an issue you can always get some D/R's.
My performance guess would be mid/high 13's. So you should be able to take some A4/2.73 or M6/bad driver LS1's. If you were in my area we could make a run once everything is done and find out...oh well.
Change the cam and get more gear (yep higher than 3.73) and you'll really fly.

I doubt you will be taking the ls1's. Mine friends 2002 Just dynoed at 300 RWHP STOCK, thats like 350 to the flywheel, plus a damn 6 speed. You need a few more mods to take them. They are WAY under rated.

higher than a 3.73 gear! Im gonna go ahead and disagree with that...I have a 3.42 and I can barely even use first gear. I cant imagine this car with 4.10s. Stick your combo to the track and I think youll be able to take some LS1s - its all in the launch

first gear 700R4 = 3.08 or something
first gear TH350= 2.52
a big difference Ill agree. Another thing to consider- he'll be going through the Traps at well over 6000RPM on a stock size tire which is past reccomended red line for that engine
