86 T/A VS 2001 Mustang Convertible

My friend from school just bought a used Mustang 6 cyl convertible and I was wondering if my car could take him. His is auto like mine and it has a few thousand miles on it whereas my car has 170,000+. With the mods below, do you think I could do it? Oh by the way, I'm going to have a new fuel pump for the race because my car wouldn't go over 3,000 rpm at WOT. Should be fixed soon and ready to go. It was running lean and my spark plug wire fused to the header so i was only on 7 cyl sometimes. Still beat my friends Jetta though . Thanks in advance.

I'd say you'll take it, that Mustang should be a high 15 second car, while you're looking at least low 15s.

Your friend has the worst possible set up for a new Stang, a conv't with an auto and a V6. You should take him pretty easily.
