New paint: When to Wax

I need to know how long I should wait before I wax my car after getting it painted. Some people have told me 1 week, others have told me wait 2 months....So needless to say I am alittle confused, any suggestions???

Thanks

The longer you can wait the better. I personally would say at least 30 days. One week is way too short. Mine's been over a month now, but that's only because it's been too cold and rainy.

First off what kind of paint was spray, base clear? Single stage?. Single stage paints harden fast a couple of weeks would be enough, how ever that also would depend on type of wax. If you had to wax, make sure to use a cream wax. If it is base clear the longer the better, In fact I had my car painted last year, and never waxed it, All I did was use 3M's finishing kit, called perfect it!. The polish seemed to be fine, I use it once. And washed the car by hand for the rest of the summer. As long as you keep it clean the base clear will be the best shine your gonna get......

Cool, thats some good advise, Honestly I have never had a car that was nice enough to wax before, so I was sort of itching to "do something" with it now that its all back together and I am not doing any of my mods until I get it E-tested, probably the next couple of weeks, so guess I will just sit tight on that waxing for as long as possible.

I don't know. I just had mine ,base, clear painted and recently buffed and hand glazed to finish off and the painter says take lots off wax and an orbital buffer and load the wax on4 or 5 time. The orbital buffer will heat the wax up so it spreads great.
