Well... I have put aboust as much work as everyone else has, into their car... What happened was, someone posted a message at the TFbM mailing list about the article, so I emailed him with some pictures and the URL to my website... and he got a hold of me. He was looking for cars that are driven (not trailer queens) and that are nice enough for the magazine.. but obviously not showroom, cause that would entail that you don't drive the car.. LOL.
I will definately let everyone know which article it will be... I know I will be buying like 10 copies.. LOL

That has to be the coolest -- imagine your ride showing up in a car mag ?
Better get the detailing equipment out eh ? If it helps, here are some of the less obvious things that I do...
- use tire spray (Simonize, etc) on the inner fender wells. It takes away the road grit look and makes everything behind the wheels look 'new'.
- use Windex on the inside of the windows UNLESS YOU HAVE TINTing !!! otherwise soap and water, and use wax on the outside of the window. Makes a new definition of crystal clear.
- if you know anyone in the business take you car to an engine shampoo'er and have them increase the dose on the 'polish' after the cleaning. Really makes the engine bay sparkle in the areas that are so hard to clean properly.
- I use armor-all type products on everything rubber that is weather-beaten, eg: the windshield seal, the side window seals, the triangular door piece behind the mirrors, etc.
- probably doesn't matter for your shoot but you could spend a couple of hours on the door jams and I usually pull the floor guards on the sil a couple of times a year to clean it and the area under it.
- last year I tried the claybar treatment on my Firebird. It worked really well and I felt confident dumping tons of carnauba on it afterwards. The claybar really makes for a smooth finish although I'll have to warn you it will take a day to do the entire car.
Well I do lotsa other stuff too (some of it normal washing) if you want any help on shoot day I am sure you will have a dozen guys hanging around including me !!!
congrats,
RP.
