Question: Do I need to safety/e-test?
I bought a new car in October2001 and transferred the plates from the GTA to it. I want to put the GTA back on the road this week. Does anyone know if I'll have to certify the car and/or emission test it before they'll give me new plates?
Thanks,
Thanks,
For the safety I think you're ok. As long as you didn't change the ownership on it. A couple years ago you could remove and reattach plates without re-safetying the vehicle.
As for the e-test- I would like to assume the same applies- but with the way the government and the MOTC have been going the last few years, I wouldn't bet the farm on it...

I switched the plates from my one wi nter beater to the old one I had, and since the old car was due for a e-test, I had to get it done, but the safety didn't have to be done. I believe the only time a safety is needed is when it changes owners. If the GTA wasn't up for emissions, you shouldn't have to do it.
