What next?!!!

Well, it's my turn to rant. I have been holding onto a Holley carb for about 2 months now, trying to figure a way of putting it on so that everything bolts up. Today, I decided to have the EGR removed so that the carb could be bolted onto the manifold without any interference. My mechanic took the car in to do this. I told him that I am in the process of getting a new Edelbrock intake with the EGR.
( I have been borrowing a carb from my mechanics stock car to get me by, since my original gave up the ghost.)
After much fabrication, we got the car running with the Holley.I then took it to a performance shop to get it tuned up and to get an aftermarket K&N air filter( open element with the high flow top). The old guy at the shop, adjusted my timing and my Holley, but the results sucked. The engine is surging. He told me I would have to live with it for now. He also told me that he set the timing at 12 degrees advanced! He explained why he did that, but , what do I know. It's all foreign to me.It seems like everytime I try to do something right, it backfires in my face.
O.K. I'm done ranting, I think I will have a cold beer now.

mods can be a pain

Hey Kev mods can be a pain but that is what makes them worthwhile eh ?

The 12 degrees advance thing sounds abit of a stretch. You'll want to get to the bottom of that before you are done. Why don't you try the carb section on the BIG board and ask around for who has made holley carbs work on an LG4 ? This has been done many times before I am sure someone has the howtos or a tech article somewhere ?

my .02cents worth,
RP.
