LOL I don't know if you guys heard but as I was pulling up I was shifting from first to second and the gear didn't go into gear, and my car just made this loud sound and everybody looked! Woopsies!
BTW that guy with the Black 92 who pulled up to us... Boy oh boy was his car ugly!!! I should've offered to buy it off him cheap, then give it a carwash and sell it for tons more!

Nah easyspeed was right, he was just remarking on how dirty this 92 looked to his... note easy does wax a lot lot. I'm sure if he cleaned it up, exterior and interior it would be a nice show car and fetch some good dough....
On the upside easy, his car was a 350... it would make short work of our cars...
I looked up your engine code/drivetrain combination... you have a 205 hp engine from the factory easyspeed... now I'm really interested in seeing it on the track... with my changes I should be right around your level in performance so it be interesting to see just how much of a difference my mods have done...

Correct me if I'm wrong, EASYSPEED, but on the right side of your signature, there, that appears to be an "R" Racing sticker/seatbelt cover, or something...? The Crappy Rie equivilant to Type-R...? I dunno, just curious...

That is usually a dead giveaway for N10 and I thought the N10 LB9 got the 'bigger' cam and oil cooler, etc. Mine reads off as 230/300 according to my RPOs -- and the details I can get on this website ??? Also, I thought the single-cat 91s and 92s were 215hp/285lbs ??? Where are you getting the 205 from Rovic ?

heheheh my bad on that one nate!
like that one day when I went to that show and my car was a freakin mess. not to mention I was also, I sleep to much.

but the car is shiny now, I put wax on agian, and washed it etc.. etc.. etc.. cleaned the engine bay area also!
I should post some pics.
I know Daz would love em!
just kiddinggg relax.
The numbers are on the technical data link on this site.
As for 205 HP, yeah that's what the LB9 sans G92 package got.
As for 92 zeddar he got the g92 so he has the 230 HP cammed up lb9.
I imagine since you got the driveshaft you too would have the lb9 with cam as well...
The lb9 with 230 hp came with aluminum driveshaft and disc brakes. I'll check with easy on his codes again, but I'm sure he had drums on the back... if not, my bad 230 he has and end of story.

lol, Im the same as this guy as to how my car looks...I hate cleaning/detailing and suck at it when I do..I have tools, borrles of oil,oil stains, helmet, paint remover(wipe off the shoepolish),destroyed CD,s,CDs,rags,ECM sticking out, clipped wire, potato chip crumbs..etc...
Im not making excuses but I dont have time for it..And when I do have time I spend it on (mechanical)maintenance/repair,drive,race etc...I might go to a gathering next weekend instead of detailing it..lolol

He has nice seat covers.. I'm thinking of getting some too.. my seats have seen better days. They won't see those better days unless I get them reupholstered which quite frankly don't fit into a performance budget lol...

I must be going blind.. here's what I'm reading...
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml
Key notes starting from 1990...
"In 1990, the base engine for the IROC was finally the LB9 TPI 305 rather than the base LO3 V-8. However, G92 had to be specified now to get the better cam/230hp LB9 motor in the 5 speed LB9 IROC-Z."
Thus starting in 1990 only G92 setups got 230 and that was from cam...
Key note from 91...
<G92 packages with air conditioning (C60) and without air conditioning (C41/1LE) still available on Z28. All 350 Z28's were required to have one of the G92 packages in 1991. G92 was not available on the Z28 convertible (as was the case with the previous year's IROC-Z convertible).>
All 350's were g92's but not all 305's were not...
Lastly a note from 90 as to what a g92 package composed of...
<G92 with air conditioning (C60):
Optional axle ratio (305/3.42, 350/3.23)
Rear disc brakes (J65)
Performance exhaust system (N10) (dual catalytic converters)
Engine oil cooler (KC4)
5.0 liter TPI (LB9) with 5 speed gets revised cam for 230hp rating.
G92 with out air conditioning (C41) in addition to above adds 1LE performance package consisting of:
Fog lamp delete
Aluminum driveshaft (JG1)
Aluminum spare wheel with smaller spare tire (N64)
Larger (11.86 inch) front rotors and PBR Australian built HD front dual piston aluminum calipers
Special swinging fuel pickup in gas tank and special 18 gallon baffled fuel tank for fuel pickup down to .5 gallon reserve to prevent fuel starvation in hard cornering >
Dual cats alone couldn't account for all that hp... cam/cats combination was the key... Without duals, oil cooler, discs and 3.42 odds are he didn't get the revised cam either... GM wasn't in the habit of allowing only single upgrades.. had to be packages...
So here's my info... a simple list of all his codes though would tell us more of what he has...

Question: what are the gains of a Aluminum drivshaft? I am buying one but I am thinking just for Vibration and lighter weight no big horsepower gains... right?

This is what I understand to-date and some of the combos regarding '91s and '92s ONLY --
The 205hp option was for TPI automatics only.
All 91-92 5-speed 305 TPIs got the 350 cam G92 or otherwise. The rear end was either 3.08 open (low output) or 3.42 closed (hi output).
TBIs and single-cat TPIs got the 3.08 open rear as well as the small exhaust system. If you see a factory single cat TPI (ergo small exhaust) in 91 or 92 then it is a 215hp/285lbs torque.
The 305 TPI "automatics" are the only 205hp optioned vehicle that I know of.
The 305 TPI with stick and dual cats always came with the 3 inch factory exhaust and 3.42 rear posi unit. It was dual cats plus 3 inch exhuats.
Oh yeah all 91s and 92s got the baffled gas tank even though this was an option for prior years.
The TBI automatic 305 was the base engine everything else was an upgrade. This engine shared cams with the TPI 305 automatic. Same peanut cam. Switching to the 5-speed got you the L98 cam in 91-92.
Just to throw a wrench into things what about the 'G92 disk brake delete' option ? This got you all the G92 options sans the rear disk brakes -- got rear drums instead and could opt for A/C delete as well. Pretty common site in 91-92s in Canada.
About GM and singleton upgrades -- I've seen a ton of weird GM upgrades in the 91-92s as far as I can tell they were using up everything in the parts barrel in an attempt to clear inventory before they switched production to the 4th gen. Eg: I've seen a T/A with factory optioned leather interior this was GTA only for 5 years prior.

I did not make it clear this applied to the 5-speed 305 TPI vs. the automatic 305 TPI.

Ok then, 215 it is.. but the dyno knows all and sees all lmao...
As far as an aluminum driveshaft is concerned, as long as you aren't planning on making incredible amounts of torque and horsepower, an aluminum driveshaft is a good investment. You won't see incredible gains, but they will be there not in engine gains, but in engine freeing... you have less rotational mass ie there is more torque available and thus a slightly higher hp reading. The only thing I've heard about the aluminum driveshafts is that under extreme stresses a carbon fibre or competition steel driveshaft would be preferable. The good thing about the aluminum driveshafts is that they are manufactured to stricter tolerances and reinforced and balanced better so the critical rotational speed is much much higher than a standard driveshaft (something like 10000 vs 7000 rpm).
I'm definitly in the market for one as I've already balanced mine and it still deteriorated over time giving me the half critical velocity shudders at an even lower rpm than normal. It's seen 2 minor rear enders, a busted differential and over 75 hard launches so I'm thinking a change is in order...

SOFB.. I just realized your name was on the list above mine...
Looks like they won't be getting one soon... and not that I want PA to get one (that would mean for us to get one a 1le would have to die
)
I've talked to PA for over a year about it, but didn't decide I wanted to put one in until a few months ago as well. After getting good tires, putting on my good rims, alignment, transmission bracket, balance the ds and whatever else with suspension I needed to check, I was sure at that point that the ds had to go... had like a year of denial.. oh its just the tires.. the tranny mount... the alignment.. the balancing.... $250 for a metal rod.. too much... ds is still good...
I worry about it though... rotational forces are not a joke especially when it doesn't take a lot of rpm's to send out shrapnel faster than a bullet... anytime I find myself punching 2500 rpm on the highway I get shudder and alone, I can risk it... but lately it scares the hell out of me, don't get me wrong, its not like it wants to rip apart, but a shaking car doesn't inspire confidence... not to mention that officially my car can shoot past the speed 2500 highway 3500 1:1 3rd gear ie 82 mph, got an 89 mph trap speed... so with that in mind I need a new ds...

My T/A is not a GTA and it came with an aluminum driveshaft from factory. So don't worry, no 1LE's need to DIE to get this part. It took me 4 years to find out I had an aluminum driveshaft yet alone WS6 and aluminum drums. Go ahead call me stupid or whatever you want. I didn't get access to the internet until I got my current job 2 years ago and just recently came across this web-site late last year.
Rustang.. maybe.. more wish it to take out a whole parking lot full of ricers hehe... should be able to destroy a good 100 of them.. tank vs pop cans hehe...
Code is JG1 for the aluminum driveshaft...
