I think I'm gonna soak myself in the tub or something and nap... I feel beat... doesn't help to have coolant sprayed on your side... at least it wasn't as bad as the poor volunteer that opened Kev's secondaries... poor guy will be licking his wounds for a week...

A good day for me, a tune-up since last dyno day and I gained 3 ft/lbs and 6.9 hp...

Note to those that think the stock coil is good enough...

I put in the MSD coil, shows a good amount of grunt in the low end, dyno proves it... makes it worth buying in my opinion.

the important thing is that it didnt cost you 900 bucks to pick up those numbers.

G0D Damn!! that is a sweet engine dcz28!! Nice stuff buddy....
And slade Don't worry I see all... If he understood the total gain... he would be smart.. The guy who ran the dyno (who also builds engines) said it was a considerable gain FOR A 305.. I am happy with it... I was hoping for 230RWHP but not quite yet...

IMO its a good gain for a 305 as well and you will continue to see bigger gains with add ons. So when you do other mods it might turn out to be a 20 hp and 10lbs/ft of torque gain. And I wouldnt worry about the 230hp man. 228 is close. Like that could be cause of the humidity or an oil change etc. could get you there...
And about the price of the slp headers, sure its not at all impressive but for 91-92 owners that dont want air tubes and want a y pipe (from what I understand getting a custom y-pipe can be quite pricy and risky) SLP is really the only choice. Your also paying for the lasting stainless steel too. It still is quite the chunk of cash though

I have had other headers Flowtech and Headmans and they are Garbage to me... flowtech coated started flaking after one year and rotted after 5 years.
Headman kept popping the exhuast gaskets one me!! that was on a 82 145hp LG4.. So I said @#$% it.. I am never buying them again so there is only one choice SLP Stainless... Hooker a strong second 16th owner's are coated and are Just as good... I know I will never have to buy another set again... I always look long term...

thats a good point that SLPs are stainless, but what i was getting at was the fact that any headers would give an increase across the board compared to stock manifolds; you dont have to buy 900 dollar headers to get that. granted SLPs are considerably better quality than my bargin flowtechs, but i was also able to do a cam, intake, and dual exhaust for the same as the set of a SLPs

SLP is really the only choice.
Are you kidding me?

My Heddmans fit GREAT no gasket leaking (that can only be attributed to user error), easy install, all the plugs are easier to get, and they cost $250. If they rust out in 5 years, I'll just buy three more sets. SLP is a rip... get over it.

Hey Dave, everything is "cool". I hope your friend is not hurting too bad, I feel real bad about that. However, it was a real pleasure to meet you, and the rest of you that attended.

johny johny johny... :nono:
Sorry for the misunderstanding but I meant for a 91-92 tpi dual cats slp is pretty much the only choice if you want a header with a y-pipe and no air tubes... I cant speak for 92zedder but for him its probably a similiar situation as the following which I was in. Want a header with a y-pipe and for dual cats.
-rules out dynomax and hooker

car is 91-92
-rules out flowtech

want a header with no air tubes (also dual cats and y-pipe come into play)
-rules out hedman

want ground clearance
-rules out hooker long tubes (and mufflex y pipe is 250 USD)

Reason for wanting no y pipe is there are no mandrel pipe benders in the area, that means I am supposed to drive my car to Ottawa (If i can even find a place to mandrel bend a y-pipe for under 450ish?) with no exhaust connected past shorty headers, not feasible. Or I can get my car towed (expensive as well, plus y-pipe charge). Or get a shop to put the headers on and make a y-pipe, also not worth the $. Not to mention the fact that the y-pipe could turn out to be a huge POS.
I am trying to clean out the engine bay appearance and personally I think recycling used air into your cylinders can not be good for power or efficiencyl despite what some say. I see it like a human trying to breath in a plastic bag full of exhaled air. So, no AIR tubes. Sure I could cap them but that doesnt looked to purdy and Why pay 60-100 USD for something you cut off and cap?
And as for flowtechs, dont ask me why but they say for all 3rd gens except 91-92. Why that is I dont know but I trust them enough not to buy them and take everything out only to find out they dont fit and lose money on a return... Ive also heard of issues with quality on these. Not saying they are crap, but you get what you pay for.
Now the SLPs, first I laughed at them cause of price... but as I called around and read more I realized it wasnt so bad.
stainless steel for long life (also allowing you to safely use header wrap), comes with O2 bung (not a huge deal, but it does save a few bucks and some effort), install kits (most likely over priced but it does give the self installers peice of mind), y-pipe available for dual cats (not many dual cat owners would switch to a single by choice), and also available with no air tubes (good for reason mentioned above). Also dont forget the time it takes to install 3 sets of headers after each one wears out.
Now if you can still tell me what someone in that position should do then go for it... Altough I will be kicking myself if its something I didnt think of or mention.

Don’t know the car has never been on a dyno. I am still waiting for Agostino Racing to program and tune the ECU.

Kevin, don’t feel bad it was an accident and my buddy is feeling better. He is the type of guy that will help where and when he can, he was just doing what comes naturally to a muscle car, horsepower, and mechanic, NUT!!!!!!!!!!

That was an awsome day guys, lots of fun. Next time something like this is going on I will be sure to have my car ready to participate. After the "couple of problems" in the afternoon I had visions of my car getting towed all the way back to Mississauga!

Hopefully next time I will have some time to prep things up before hand.

Hey Kev, or anyone else, we need some pics up here of that "small" coolant leak!

BTW my hedmans have no air tubes. I was being sarcastic about buying 3 sets.... I'll let you know when these rust out.
