It lives!!
Hey all, it's been awhile since I've made any posts, so I figured that I would let everyone know that I have finally finished my exhaust install. To update you all, I have had my car in my garage for about two weeks now. I have replaced my stock exhaust with Flowtech headers & y-pipe, 2.5" mandrel bent I-pipe and a Dynomax super turbo muffler. I would like to thank Kevin V for his help in getting me started on the headers. It was especially hard to get the job done when all I could spend on it was an hour or two a day. It took me almost 4 hours just to get the old y-pipe out and the new larger pipe in. From broken bolts to breaking the cap on the starter solenoid, I can honestly say it was no picnic. I still have a small leak on the drivers side, but that will be fixed up soon enough. As for the performance aspect, I can honestly say that the seat of the pants dyno has put a silly grin on my face as I nail it. The car has more throttle response than ever before. It would only break the tires loose if I tried to do it, now, it will break loose with very little effort. The first time around the corner I put it sideways which I totally unexpected, this is when I knew that my car was very different. Everything is working together, the intake, filter, Holley carb and now the headers and less restictive exhaust.
Any how I just thoght I would post what I had been doing for the last two weeks.

Kev...nice to hear things are comming together for ya....after your last couple of misshaps I thought you were going to shoot that car of yours
So, that LG4 of yours has a little more pop eh....Does that mean I am finally going to get a chance to run against ya at the track one of these days??? Oh sorry, I forgot you never end up making it to the tracks,
Lol, good stuff, sounds like it is comming together for ya.

HAH ! 305 power !!!
COOL man a decent exhaust sure wakes up the LG4 eh ?
Hey Mr. Jordan, what are the specs on the XE262 ? Kev is carbed (Holley no less) so can get alot of cam going. ]
I just checked the Comp Cams site.
XE262 = 218/224 and .462/.469 at 110 LSA.
Hey Kev that is alot of cam for a 305 I've done a 217/225 before (on a 305) and can tell you it is REALLY going to wake up your car. Don't be surprised if you start passing some 350s with that cam...
my .02 cents worth,
RP.

I would love to get a cam, but I think I will wait until next year. I just don't have the $$ right now. That would be cool to be able to take out a couple of 350's with my "only good enough to be a boat anchor " 305...
I can't wait until next year. I had been wanting to know what it will run in the 1/4. Not too worry Dave, I will be making it the track in the spring, and I just might be calling all you TBI's out...
Dyno Day will be a real test for me. I am planning on getting an assortment of jets for the Holley and I already have secondary springs to try( won't need to have anyone stand there and do it manually
) I have been told that to fully utilize your time on the dyno, you need to have a game plan. Just by tweaking a carb and making adjustments you can gain anywhere from 5 -10 horses. Time will tell.

Kev...that sounds like a good plan in terms of working with your jets etc at a dyno day, proper tuning makes a huge difference, thats for sure.
Hey btw..could you PM me the details on your exhaust that you purchased if you dont mind...I am sortign a couple of things out in regards to my car and trying to get as much info as possible. If you could fire off to me what you had done..where you had it done and what the cost was I would certainly appreciate it.

Hey Paul, the car will never be a 5-speed, unless someone is going to do the swap for me...lol As for how it sounds, it is pretty mellow at low idle but when I go WOT it has a nice growl to it. My son commented on how he liked the sound when I took him in it yesterday...he's a car nut just like his old man
