court date on wednesday

uh oh! looked on the calender, my court date is on wednesday the 30th for the speeding ticket I got over a year ago in my old 91 Camaro RS. Was doing 88 in a 60 zone, cop booked me for 80.

The officer who gave me the ticket told me to book the court date back then and he said wait till the court date and he'll make sure I lose no points and get a bare minimum fine.

Any advice?

Plead insanity. All you have to is establish that you can't appreciate the nature and consequences of your actions - not difficult - just show them the photoshop pic of that sticker job you're planning for the Camaro.

They may not let you go home for a year or two but all's well that ends well and at least your be relieved.

Hey George, what major intersection do you live at. Might be a longshot, but when I was looking for a camaro, this one guy had a beautiful blue IROC-Z, I left my number on his car about 10 times, and he eventually called me and told me his car isn't for sale, and that his name is George. Not you is it?

Be glad you got off easy... If you dont have any real reason for doing 28 over, you agree that the area should be 60km/h and you know you were actually doing that then just take whatever he gives you. Your no lawyer so dont try saying stuff like the gun was off or he made a mistake or youll get ripped... Be warned though, 1 or 2 more tickets (no matter the degree or demerit points) within 2 or 3 years and your insurance goes boom. It suyucks

I have a lot of speeding tickets and I DUI from about 5 years ago, last year I had a really good insurance agent and she explained to me pricing. She informed me for that after 3 speeding tickets, the price of you insurance increases by 30%. So if you have two speeding tickets within the last two years, slow down until one of them is erased off you abstract. Otherwise you will be paying killer rates like me. I was paying $1800 for six months of PLPD on a 94 Grand Am, 6 cyl, 4 door. I was paying almost $600 a month on my 99 Dodge Ram 4x4. I wish I could say I learned my lesson. After going ticketless for about 2 years, I went out and got two speeding tickets and lost 4 points for each one, was speeding by over 30 km's on each. So I am stuck paying high premiums for the next 2 years again.

btw for ins purposes it doesnt matter if you were speeding by 1km or 50km

*knocking on wood* I've always been lucky enough that I've been able to get out of my tickets with just a fine+probation, or have had it dismissed. Maybe I've just had my share of 'nice' cops.

I've had 3 brushes with cops over moving violations. I got off with just a verbal warning for one(5mph over), the other was for running a red light in bad weather.

That one I got probation for because I was unable to stop. Despite that I was actually going 10mph UNDER the limit because of the nasty weather. I hit the brakes and had no traction. I slid right through the intersection with my horn blazing.

The last one I got dismissed, though I have no idea HOW it was dismissed. I was doing 89mph in a 55mph 3 lane highway. Hmm...lets see. 34mph over the limit and I got off scott free. I have no fricken idea how that happend, considering it was a state trooper who pulled me over. I went in there expecting to get suspended at the least. Or a major hit on my insurance. That was my last offence. After that I'm always VERY careful about my speed. I'm always on the look out for "christmas tree lights" and never go faster than the person in front of me. This is not to say that I don't speed, just that there's always someone about a 1/4 mile ahead of me doing the same speed. If they break fast, then I do too. Long before the cop even looks in my direction.

One other note. If your car gets pulled over for not having a vehicle lisence sticker, or a expired sticker then its the same as a speeding ticket! It sucks, but its true. Last time i was pulled over, it was for the above reason. I got out of it though. ^_^

A little note though, my little unassuming 88hp escort does wonders for me. It must have this magical aura that makes cops not notice me unless I really make a fool out of myself on the road.
