My winter project
I've finally decided on my engine buildup. I've got some questions and was hoping to get some feed back. I'm gonna TBI my 327. Here's what I have so far.
1968 327 c.i.d
large journal
bored .030 over
crank grind .010
TRW Hypereutectic Pistons
hi-performance connecting rods
chrome-moly pushrods
news rings, seals, bearings, freeze plugs
Cam shaft 220/231*@ 0.050, 468/480 lift, 110* separation
Double Roller Timing Set
Hi-perf oil pump & drive shaft
Now I want to TBI this engine;
Is the cam I have good or should I use something different?
Which heads are good to use S/R Torquers, Sportsman II or something from Trickflow ?
For the intake should I use a TBI intake or go with a single or double plane with an adapter?
The TBI unit, should I stay stock and put 350 injectors, use a 454 TBI or should I just put on a Mini ram/super ram/stealth ram setup?
How about the fuel pump and the AFPR?
An aftermarket waterpump or use the stock short water pump, will the stock pump work, I'll need new pulleys.
I'm going to get a new chip done.
I'm new to fuel injection and computer cars, so I just want some feedback, anything that I forgot or suggestions from you guys will help.
Thanks

honestly i would go carb.
anyway, when it comes to heads, it all depends on how much you wanna spend? no matter which aftermarket ones you get i would make sure you get them ported as well. or you could do up a set of 305 heads with bigger valves, and heavy porting.
F-BIRD '88 and Sitting Bull can help you out with info on exactly how to port 305 heads.

About the TBI:
- I have done a TBI/305/5-speed build up several years back and can tell you your cam is going to give you alot of trouble. I would opt for less cam, say around 210-212 degrees.
- I'd get whatever heads you can afford and at the best price. Keep in mind the TBI will want to see EGR. Atleast you won't have to deal with any of the centerbolt nonsense.
- definitely drop the TBI intake and get a dual or single plane manifold and build or buy and adaptor for the TBI. FYI: I tried both dual and single plane and liked the single best but keep in mind I had a 5-speed/3.42s.
- a cheap alternative is to use the 454 injectors make sure you get the pod with them (wreckers) they are slightly larger diameter than the 305/350 units.
- if you take a trip over to the TBI board there are lotsa people who have altered their factory fuel pressure unit to make it adjustable. Should be able to pick up some howtos.
I used a holley 670cfm it came with an adjustable FPR and two 80lb injectors. I put it on top of a Weiand single plane manifold and it worked great but as I said I had a stick and 3.42s. If you are going to cut a new chip make sure you are dealing with someone who knows TBIs.
adious,
RP.
