Thinking about getting a S-15 jimmy
I need one for a winter beater I don't want to be driving my cars through the salt anymore.Whats the best year to get Im looking to get a 86-90 they are fairly cheap.

Little T-15 Jimmies are great in the winter (T-15=4wd, S-15=2wd), although the butt is surprisingly light for such a heavy little clunker. A 2.8L would be fine in the winter but you need to go easy on a 4.3L. 
Personally I wouldn't get anything older than a '92, since I think the Vortec 4.3L became either an option or standard that year. More power, although the CPI system is prone to developihg leaks at the injectors.
Keep in mind that they'll rust just as bad as the Fiero. I actually found a rust hole behind my passenger side kickpanel.
