As you and Johnny already know I'm running the GC setup with 850 lb fronts and 175 lb rear springs. I'm really thinking about coming down to an 800lb front spring at a 10.5" free length height(currently the fronts are 9.5" free length). I ran the car at one autocross event this past year with the new setup but can't fairly evaluate. I was running on street tires with poorly damped(for racing) regular KYB's(not AGX's but Koni Yellows are here to replace now). One thing I will mention is the cars transitioning is AMAZING with such a high spring rate and being lowered some. Also Sam Strano has won an SCCA championship with Koni yellows, 800/150 spring rates, T2R diff and 16x10 wheels on Hoosiers. He and GC both seem to think the magic is right around the 800 mark for front and anywhere between 125-175 for rear.

THANKS FOR THE INFO REG BUT HERE ARE A COUPLE MORE QUESTIONS FOR YOU.

Why are you going to longer free height springs. Was there not enough adjustment in your setup to get a ride height that was suitable for the street?

When you went to Woodstock did you use the adjusters to lower the car for competition? And then raise it again for the ride home?

Since you know the setup we are going with what spring heights would you recommend front and rear?

ps. I checked out the picks on your website. Looks like you had a lot of fun with the setup.

I basically lowered my car as much as possible to be barely streetable this summer. Like yourself I don't care what height I'm at really. When I get the car on some scales I'll try getting the car as close to 50/50 all around and see how that works. I'm hoping I can at least get a 52/48 ratio front to rear. Think it's possible? As for wanting a longer free height spring for the front... with the current springs now and drop spindles my front lower control arms are almost parallel to the ground. I wouldn't want to go any lower and the front adjusters are about halfway pushed out which is about 1 1/2 inches. Might be more. I'm going to check when I put in the Koni's this spring and figure out what length to go with when I do another swap.

Oh and I've just left the car at the same height for woodstock and street. I dont need to jack up the car to lower or raise either end of the car but I do for the rear as the rear adjusters are aluminum and I'd rather avoid wearing the threads possibly.


If yer using a GM rear I'd go with the 10.5" on your car since I think you actually gained about an inch of travel from removing the old spring perch(correct?). You can see from my pics how much height I lost due to the adjuster and where the bottom of the spring now sits. Looks like about 1 1/2" and that spring is also 9.5" free length. WIth the adjustment you see in the pic the rear sits 1" below stock height approx.

EDIT: I am going out to storage to take some measurements on my car sometime in the next couple weeks. I'll give you some exact measurements for the jack, travel and ride height then.
