If the metal under the plating has actually started to rust, no ammount of polishing will ever bring back the chrome.

The only option is to strip it all, polish the entire cover and have it re-chromed... which willl cost you many times more than buying it new.

You can 'clean up' some scuff marks and 'faded areas' with polishing and other products... but not rust.

Will that nasty pot metal **** Edelbrock uses even polish up?

I say paint them or have the powdercoated.

Try using some fine steel wool like #00 00.

I got a set of Chevrolet Aluminum valve covers that have been powder-coated with a nice silver finish if you want? also you can paint the Bow-Tie and the chevrolet letters to any color that you want...i'll let them go for $125.00 CAD!
