Well last night was a great time. Thanks to everyone who went to make the night that much more enjoyable. It was the first time I've been to a Shannonville drag night. The attendence was nice and busy, not so that you couldn't run, but so you could watch others run when you weren't. The Thirdgen.org attendece wasn't huge, but very appreciated. And it's always cool to have strangers come up and talk about the 3rd gens. (I hope we now have a couple new members on here) My take and thanks to all the boys (and girls) who went on here:
KEN (Screamin' Chickn) - hey, I'll beat you yet someday!!!! I always have a great time with Ken and family around, and his car is my favourite 3rd gen. (Hey, he's my best friend, of coarse I'm bias)
PAUL (AcceldZ) - and Holly, I don't care what you say, 90mph in a pickup thats not a Lightning or SRT-10, is very impressive. Thats not an aerodynamic shape at all. I think the 13th will be a much different story, that Zed will be a tad quicker.
NEIL (6speedIroc) - for the fastest of us all that night. I don't know whats more impessive, the fact that you kept getting faster as the night went on, or that the car kept looking more "factory" as the night went on. VERY impressive Neil - 106mph @ high 13's.
CHRIS (get yourself joined up if you haven't already) - For a first time ever doing anything like that, just a couple months ago you got into these cars (behind the wheel) and you took off from the gate like a veteren. Your reaction was as good as any of the pro drivers out there. I hope you had fun and will get the bug to do these kinds of things in the future, I wanna see you out there.
SCOTT (Trigger) - this guy and his wife, (Sorry I forgot her name right now Scott, please apologise to her for me) they get the MVP award for the night. They came from Kitchener through Toronto rush, with a daily driver to watch and meet some new friends. My hat is off to you two and I hope to see you both at future meets. 2 Awsome people!!!
I know I'll be there again on the 13th of August, and I know I'll have a blast again. Thanks again everyone, and hopefully some new faces will slid down as well.
PS, that return lane was brutal (terrible), but if you returned the other way..... THAT WAS A BLAST, what a contrast. Nothing like road-racing your way back.

It was great to meet up with all the guys again, and a few new ones!! The long distance award for sure goes to Trigger this time.
We'll definitely have to hit the track again. Grand Bend sounds good for a weekend, maybe next summer?
Next time I'll bring some traction and a low 13...and really show'er off, hahaha
Anyone else not really impressed by the safety at Shannonville? I saw guys running in friggin shorts and sandals, you can walk behind the waterbox etc??

MY girlfriend and I had a great time. Scott, it was nice meeting you and your wife. I have a few pics if anyone wants to host them. I also have a crappy video of Neil's IROC making a low altitude, high speed pass.

Per Buddy above,
13.9@105 with a 2.3 60 footer!
Power is there, not traction though. Must have been the split down the middle serpentine belt....

Neil, your car told me it wants an LT4 hotcam when you went to get your slips
I think GM lied about those B-body engines. I don't think a 105mph trap speed equals 260HP

Sorry I couldn't make it. I spent the weekend ripping the engine out. It's in a thousand pieces at a guys shop.
Paul, spill it you chicken **** what did the R/T run...
Hopefully by the August date I'll be back and ready to go, I just have no money right now, and I really want to go solid cam while it's apart.

...The old bird ran 14.5 @ 98mph and that's not bragging.
More show than go I guess you could say! I have excuses a plenty of course, but all that mattered at the end of the day is that it went through the traps ahead of Buddy.
Anyhow, it will (hopefully) be properly tuned for the next outing.
We had a blast and look forward to the next one. It was good to meet and chat with everyone, and look over the other cars.
Paul, if you have a few good pics, go ahead and post them...

And don't **** around with a solid roller. Just get it balanced and assembled properly with a new cam. I want a WOT ride in that thing this summer.

Ya 6 speed, that 105mph trap speed is great. It sounds like you need some DR's and some suspension work to get that thing to hook!!
Acceld, what the hell is with you and 2.5 60ft times?? Do you start the run with a burnout or something??LOL Sorry man, just playin.

Scott, these things are weird. Stock 1/4 times range from high 14's to low 16's with MPH numbers ranging from 85mph to 90mph. I got a slow one. Mine pings like crazy to top it off. I think the belly pan gasket is leaking but I don't think that would effect power.

I agree with Paul. I've been told on the other hand that mine must be a freak. Stock these things could barely squack the tires. i can blow them away under 30km/h. And it pulls like crazy. I've run a silver R/T with light mods in Cornwall and pulled him pretty good. Other than a lack of muffler(sidepipes) and Pauls old K&N filter, I'm pretty stock.

14.5 @ 99mph. On the 13th I hope to see 100.
Tanager, that would have been us on the 401 you saw from the sound of it. If it was a red Zed leading the pack @ 130ish, it was us.
I was off on my best et by a few tenths, but on a high note, I got a best mph.

Okay faithfull 3rd-gen owners and operators, the 13th of August is nearly upon us. Just taking a quick check on who's toying with the idea of Shannonville cruise night. Weather permitting, I will be there, looking for that elusive 100, and if Ken does get the fortitude to show up, looking to wring that "Scream'in Chicken"s" neck!!!
Once and for all!!!
I guess I should have started a new post, to save loading all the past. Sorry.

I absolutely want to go and make some thirdgen friends. I'm in Ottawa and would love to make a convoy out of it.

Welcome 91Z, it's a pleasure to see another enthusiest on here, local to boot. Your more than welcome to come down with us on the 13th. I've already set things up with my work to leave early. Weather permitting, we'll most likely leave around 4-4:30, getting there after 6pm. It was a blast last time, so hopefully there'll be a couple more there. Everyone seems to getting the last of (or any) bugs and or additions to their cars ready for it. Only 2 more weeks left.
By the way, your car sounds very nice, ever been to the track with it before? If so, mind if I ask what your best time's have been?
