new converter

Well... I'm looking to abuse the screaming chicken a little this year and determined to make it more driveable. I picked up a CK performance (www.ckperformance.com) converter from Mike (Canadian rep) in Ottawa.

I'm expecting to bring home the bird over the next few days and make the swap, maybe the motor too. Anyhow, I'll follow up on the performance once I try it. I figure it has to be a step up from the factory vette converter I'm currently using and will hopefully bring it to life.

That new convertor is what? 2800 stall? That should be a pretty nice jump from the vette one. It's what.. 2200.
I've talked to Mike about a couple things. Very nice guy. His Buick T-Tpye is crazy. It looks mint and runs in the 11's or something crazy @ 116mph.

11's at 116 for a T-type, I'm actually kind of disappointed.
Those things are like MPH pulling ****'s.

Good luck with the converter. Do you have a cam to go with it?

The cam is not huge but the car is generally tempermental mainly because of high compression and perhaps inferior tuning. I will be pulling it down, reworking the domes a bit and cleaning up the combustion chambers. I think there are still steel shim type gskts on the heads that will definitely be exchanged for oversized composites.

This beast has been together for several years and I just don't want to throw away an expensive set of pistons/rings that are well fitted and wearing nicely. I figure the increased stall will make a significant difference especially for street driving, and while it's apart I'll deal with the squeeze problem...high test is costly enough, I certainly can't afford race fuel for cruising. It seems with every tank full, the timing gets knocked back alittle more.

Be a good idea to put a tranny cooler on there too. The elevated temps with the new verter can kill your tranny fairly quick.
