Looking for good used carb
Hi guys, i'm looking for a good used Edelbrock 600cfm carb with the fuel set-up, the old q-jet just isn't working like it should anymore. it's going on my 305, and then soon on my 350. Maybe someone swapped to EFI or LS and don't need it anymore, or swapped to a bigger carb? thanks guys. --Ian

Nothing wrong with a Q jet. Has a choke circuit for cold starts, idles great and makes huge power on a 350 CID. There's something wrong with it or you have another problem if it doesn't run really nice. Get it rebuilt.

I absolutely agree with you that the q-jet is a great carb, wasn't insulting GM (or rochester) engineering. Trouble is, I've looked into rebuilding q-jets, and honestly I don't think I have the patience to rebuild a q-jet. If I was going to pay to have this built or something newer and easier to tune and build.....I think I have to go with the more modern and driver friendly. Also, while you're right that the q-jets make great power, it kind of comes in two bursts (because of the large disparity of the primary and secondary sizes). I would prefer a smoother power band.
To give you an idea of whats going on now, when I'm driving around 80km/hr and accelerate to 100km/hr, i'm bogging a lot and not making a lot of power. Still good and torquey in the bottom though......either way. I'm sure that I could rebuild it, I'm just not sure that I want to when the other option is to get a good aftermarket carb and go from there. Thanks a lot for your input
