I would like to assume that ihate simply means that the article is dated. The US Space program hasn't been to the moon in decades (at least not officially, for all you conspiracy theorists out there) and draft dodgers are no longer in Canada, they've had government jobs

I have friends on both sides of the border, and cross it frequently myself. I, for one, am glad to have the US as our closest neighbour. Although there are several reasons I wouldn't want to live in the US, there are times I'd prefer it. I've never understood why when Canada sends troops on peacekeeping missions, it's a good thing, yet when the US does it, they're warmongers.

I'll tell you one thing tho... I was in Yonkers Tuesday and I was driving through Mass, Conn and NY wednesday and thursday, and I have never, ever, seen such patriotism and national pride as I did in rural america.

I have NEVER driven through small town Canada and seen the Maple Leaf flying from every house and on every pole that could hold a flag. I have never seen a guy standing in the rain on a highway overpass waving a Canadian Flag.

Canadians, as a whole, have a "if it doesn't affect ME..." attitude. It's a damn good thing there's people who realize that "someday, it will."

Keep something in mind people... Canada is also a supporter of Israel, was in Desert Shield/Storm, and has peacekeeping forces throughout the world. They could have just as easily flown planes into the CN Tower or the Canadian Parliament buildings. They've found evidence that at least 2 of the terrorists came across from Canada.

Canadians and Americans have a pretty similar set of beliefs in rights and freedoms for everyone, and if it's the US that's sending their forces out to protect those freedoms, instead of criticizing them, we should thank them (or help them). And thank *** it's not ME or YOU getting shot at in some foreign desert to do it.

Oh well, enough of a tirade for a first post
