Took the Formula out for a spin this morning

Well the long wait was definitely worth it. I took the Formula out for a spin this morning and already had it up to the illegal side of the speedo. Took a straight onramp in 3rd at WOT and figured why stop now ? Man that is a fast car.

No more oil leak on the intake either !

New stuff on the way:

- I am waiting for the strut brace to arrive.
- I'll be getting the SFCs in next week.
- I have a set of pulleys on the way.
- I have a Jacobs Ultra Team (Pro-Street) package arriving sometime in the next two weeks.
- will be putting together a decent cold-air sometime in April.
- looking for time to install braided steel brake lines (front), new pads and rotors.

Spring time can be expensive eh ? Still need to find an aluminum DS and drums for the right price.

Hey Nathan, did I see a Performance Resource decal on your GTA ? DO you have one of their chips and if so do you recommend ?

thx,
RP.

Yah it was fun run -- but I was paranoid about getting it dirty. I think I put about 20 coats of wax on over the winter.

Do you have any idea how your car reads now on emissions ? You are bound to pass if you still have your cat, put in new plugs, cap and rotor and basic tune up stuff. If you have a carb'd IROC then you have more room to blow dirty than the EFI cars.

Hey palric... Yeah, I have the Performance Resource chip in the car, got that in during the winter. Any sticker you see on my car means I have it... I ain't like these people that put a shlt load of stickers on my car, but have none of the products But, I am running out of room in the engine bay, and I don't want to put them on the outside of the car.

Glad the car's all back together and running great.. I am sure its a HUGE difference compared to that Tercel

I'm glad to hear everything's running good. That forbidden side of the speedo is very easy to explore when you haven't driven your car in months!

Thx and I can tell you that after a days worth of driving (used up 1/2 a tank) it is running really well. Looking forward to GB Motorplex day. I have some upgrades on the way and am wondering how it will effect my et's ?

Hey Nathan. Did you get the GTA out for a spin this weekend ?

What about the PR chip ? Is it worth the $$$ ? I am looking around for a chip and was going to try burning my own but just don't have the time to drive down the road and play with my laptop. Don't really want to deal with Ed Wright -- been there and done that 10 years ago and still remember not getting what I paid for (I understand things have improved with him). Don't think much of HyperTech, etc.

The PR guys say they can get me 20hp and 20lbs torque at 3500rpm plus improve gas mileage. I think that is kind of tall but they insist.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the PR chip after shipping and border and all that ?

thx,
RP.

Hey palric... the PR chip was 210bux american. I can't really tell you if the chip is worth it until I get to the track and get some ET's. I also have to set the timing, it is crucial with this chip.

That's what they all say The PR chip just uses an *** load more advance than any other chip. It probably came with a pretty loud octane use warning as well. They did win most of the shootouts that used to be so popular back in the day though. I've got an Ed Wright chip in my GTA. The car runs. That's about all I can say. I can't really say anything until I get rid of the vacuum leak I have somewhere.

I figured as much when you said you bought it over the winter.
Thx for the info.
