I spoke with Bruce today, Hawks Third Generation is now on board to support the Expo! We're honored that Bruce has chosen to partner with us. Spread the word guys, this event is getting serious.

I hear you about the over budget thing! I'll be there with the resurrected Phoenix! Just don't expect a flashy good looking car. I will only be about 75% or so done with the rebuild this summer.

I only ask one thing of posters on this thread, I've known Denny a long time and he is a good guy, that said I do not know what is going on and have not talked to him for a few months, so keep that out of this thread and related events.

Second, its very nice to see folks putting work and time into keeping this alive, so my hat is off to you. I've done track rentals, get togethers, helped start ThirdGen Fest and for people who have not done it before, it does end up being a lot of work and folks who haven't done it before themselves do not realize the work that is involved.

i wish things like this would happen more in the center of the state ... everything is to far north ... believe it or not, there is more of illinois south of chicago, it does not end there ... lol

 

They happen in Springfield all the time. Might not just be for 3rd gens but there are huge car shows like crazy in central IL all summer long.

 

I dislike the whole state of Illinois, and I HATE Chicago. Mostly because their firearms laws are in violation of the 2nd ammendment, but I digress.

Chicago happens to be where the prossi's shop is who is hosting the event, for which we are eternally grateful. The best way to move it south, is to get enough people to outgrow prossi's shop. Then we will have to look at alternate locations for 2016! LOL

 

you always have to hit the highest population areas with large carshows, but on a selfish note, I can make it all the way to Springfield in a one day drive from Texas. Chicago is a little harder

Great to see so many people making plans to come out. I'm excited to see everyone and all the cars!

 

This looks like it is going to be a blast. Hopefully next year I'll have a good Thirdgen to make the trip with and schedule the time off.

 

We met with the good folks from Heidts late last week. In addition to bringing various 3rd gen suspension parts and displays to the Expo, they will also have a prototype, COMPLETELY bolt in, IRS system they are developing for the 3rd gen Camaro and Firebird. It will get it's public debut at ThirdGen Expo on May 23rd, even before the previously planned reveal at SEMA!

Who wants to buy a complete UMI Rotojoint rear end kit?

 

Heidts hasnt given us all the specifics of the rear end yet...i do know is it's a direct bolt in, and it will not have inboard mounted brakes like their other IRS units due to fuel tank location of the third gens. what I also know for sure is I've installed and used their IRS set ups on other cars and they are top notch units and perform very well. I have a car in the shop right now with one installed

If we dont pay the registration to be in the show can we still show up and walk through? I plan on going in my 91 RS but theres no point in entering it because its not exactly trophy worthy.

 

Don't even worry about that. The trophies are only secondary. All 3rd gens are welcomed. We're going to have cars in primer and we're going to have high dollar restomods and everything in between.

Charlie is right. We certainly want you and your car to come to the event. The registration fee helps us cover our costs for trophies etc., and its how you are entered to win the stuff we have to give away. We have stuff from UMI, Top Down Solutions and Hawks. (All the items we are giving away were donated by our sponsors, they were not purchased. fyi) Based on responses here, pre-registrations and Facebook, we're expecting a great turnout.

Same area, just not in the designated 3rd gen parking. It looks like more than a few "other" cars are also showing up.

 

Do it! Find out how many ponies are turning those rear tires.Add 15% for drivetrain loss and you'll have a good idea how many more ponies are inside your engine.I did it at the Crown Point,In. stop on the Power Tour last year. They charged $70 for 2 pulls.

Thirdgen Expo isn't about racing, and its also focused on 82-92 Firebirds and Camaro's. So its not even the right crowd for you car technically.

They have a Dyno, but any non-thirdgens will get bumped to the bottom of the list since its a Thirdgen event.
