hey guys... i wana run 13's with my 305 TPI... i have a 87 Z... so far all i have in the car is whats in my sig.. but this is what i want to do to get to my goal... 3.45's, stock 350 cam, hooker cat-back with hi flow cat and headers (dunno what company), 3000 tc, shift kit, AFPR, Custom Ram Air and a better dist. with 8.5 wires and plugs. what i really wish is to have a 396 with a t-56 and all that other good sh%t, but i wana keep the engine,... just to make the other guy say "sh*t, was that a 305 that just smoked me?"..hehe i also am going to do suspension upgrades to keep the power planted.... any other sugestions?... oh and what do u think i run now?... i tried to run it once at the track.... but had some serious problems with car. thanks fellas

 

spray the 305....and when that one takes a dump build a real motor. i have gone the building up of the 305 route, and i am much happier with the motor i have now vs. the 305 i had before. i wish i had just sprayed a 125 shot on the 305 until i had enough money for my 350, instead of wasting money on a cam it etc.

 

The other guy always sounds like a non-believer when I tell them it's a mild 305 under the hood.

I have a 305 TPI and I also want to get the car into the mid-high 13s. I have the stock 3.42 gears and 4 wheel discs in my car allready so I dont have to worry about those things. So far I have planned to get Hooker or SLP headers, Hooker CatBack, K&Ns, airfoils, AFPR, Transgo shift kit, Custom ram air. I might be able to get into mid 14s with all those mods. I dont know what else to get on the engine to get me into mid 13s. Probley a cam, torque converter and some other things like that. Tell me If u hear about anything that sounds good to put on the 305 TPI and gives u some HP

Vortec heads, cam, converter, plus all the other things you already mentioned should get you close. When you get tired of the 305, you swap the heads over to better motor.
