car over heating, burnt wire but which?

ok just like last year my car has overheated the first day i drove it after winter storage. Its the same problem as last year i figure. My fan wont turn on and i think its the same wire that got burnt by the headders as last year. however me being a dumbass i never asked my mechanic to show me wich wire last time, so i still dont know, what one do you think it would be? its somewhere around the headders, i noticed one burnt wire on the left side when looking under the hood, but im not sure.

Can any of you help? oh yeah my car went right up to the red area on the heat gage and i started smeeling this burnt smell, but i dont think i hurt it as i turned it right off do you? i hope i didnt screw it up, so i let it cool off, and by know its 6.00 and all the garages are closed , so i turned the heater on full blast and drove it home.

Yeah it should be on the left when you look into the engine bay(passenger side). A single wire coming from the cylinder head. If you let it get into the red for only a second the probably isn't damage, but it's really not good to run it that hot for long. Watch your coolant and oil levels closely for a while.
