John Millican, I've got a question

How do you like your Speed o motive 383? I have heard good and bad things about them and I'm contemplating going the 383 route. Any quality issues? I always thought they had a good rep, but I swear I've seen some posts here complaining about quality issues.

You should have e-mailed me. Unless you wanted to get others opinions also.

I am pleased overall with the speed-o-motice 383 short block I bought a few years ago. They talked to me for an hour when I finally called and placed my order. Nice folks. Knowledgable too.

Recommended a 2-bolt main for my application, they didn't have any cores so they sent me a 4-bolt main for the same price.

Shipped air mail for quickness and was only $150 shipping. What I didn't like about the shipping was the rubbermade crate they sent it in. They charged my credit card $150 for a "deposit" on the container. I had to sent it back ($25 UPS) to get my "deposit" refunded. This was never mentioned in the sale.

My last complaint was the time it took to get my engine. About 3 months. Lots of phone calls by me and they always said "it's in the balancing dept" and "they are very backlogged right now". I wasn't told of that when I made my purchased either.
