305 TPI high RPM wheezing

I bought a Gtech the other day. I figured since I am a couple hundred miles away from a 1/4 mile track it will at least give me a baseline and an idea of what gain I get from mods. I ran a 15.38 at 87mph. Not bad for an 86 peanut cam 305. My only mods are in my sig. I have got to get that damn thing to stop wheezing at higher rpm. I've got a list of what I'm planning to do. First come the easier and cheaper things. My wife's due to have our first baby in a month. However when I get time and some cash I'll be doing the other things. Well anyway here's my plans, please let me know if you know of anything else or at least your opinion.

-Very soon
-port intake plenum
-AFPR
-Remove Hyperjunk chip and tune it myself
-upgrade ignition (I have an MSD 6AL box laying around) also maybe a better coil.
-Edelbrock TES, hi flow cat and a good cat back

-Later on
-ported S/R Torquer heads
-52mm throttle body
-22or24# injectors
-Cam. I am thinking about a summit cam heres the specs btw I am open for suggestions on this; Adv dur 268*int/278*exh
Dur@.050 204*int/214*exh
Lift .420" int/.440"exh
-maybe a high flow baseplate and runners.

I'm sorry this is long but I need some opinions before I break out the credit card and spend my money for nothing. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply,
Jason

"I ran a 15.38 at 87mph."

About typical.

"-Remove Hyperjunk chip and tune it myself"
Good idea.

"-upgrade ignition (I have an MSD 6AL box laying around) also maybe a better coil."
Not really needed, but if it floats your boat and its laying around...

"-Edelbrock TES, hi flow cat and a good cat back"
TES? Personally I'd spring for the SLP's. Much better header.

"-ported S/R Torquer heads"
Eh, I'd port the stockers first. Unless you want new heads.

"-52mm throttle body"
I dont think you'll need this, not yet.

"-22or24# injectors"
AFPR. Pressure. Turn it up.

"-Cam. I am thinking about a summit cam heres the specs btw I am open for suggestions on this; Adv dur 268*int/278*exh

Dur@.050 204*int/214*exh

Lift .420" int/.440"exh"

Had almost the identical cam.... eh... I'd choose something bigger, need a little more duration, and definitely more lift.

"-maybe a high flow baseplate and runners."
Definitely dont waste your cash. Port the stock base. Runners maybe in the future, or siamese the base, but dont bother with an aftermarket base, they didnt fix any of the problems they just made bigger holes.

Yea, but Mike has a built 350, not a close to stock 305. I think porting will be fine.
