LT1 intake question for john millican or other swappers
I was wondering if it would be possible to put the temp sensor in one of the rear coolant ports instead of the thermostat housing? I was wondering because I am considering this swap in the future and thought this might look neater. This said, if I send my intake to you(John) would you modify one this way?

I would think it would be possible to use the rear coolant ports instead of the front ones on the heads. I was even thinking of trying that too for neatness sakes.
I use the front because that's the way the TPI was plumbed so I just copied that.
You send me an intake and I will do what you ask.

LT1 swap... coolant lines.
john,
both my friend and i are doing the LT1 intake swap. his is going
into a fiero. question is:
on plumbing the coolant lines to the remote t-stat, since we are
using L98 alum heads, couldnt we drill/tap head for the coolant
pickup? routing it to the t-stat housing and to the upper hose
location? rather than tapping the intake. reason is hes short on
space at the front of engine.
my question is on the EGR passages:
if i mill 60-90% of the passage boss (clean that crap up) drill and
tap holes do you think there is enough cast to do such?
with that extra 1-2" make a coolant crossover on the rear under
the distributor.
im building the zz4/383/hotcam. LT1 intake usingthe 96-2000
GM vortec computer. then afterwards fastburns and the ramjet.
lil steps first.
weve built a steel drilling jig. and drilled from the bottom of intake
because the intake sits flatter on the bridgeport mill. bolt the jig
on the undeside for the 1/4" pilot, then the boring bit.
thanks for your information and experimental patience.
