prom that doesn't use the 9th injector?

hello, i have a 86 iroc with a 305tpi. i have heard of other people using a later prom that only uses 8 injectors. i heard that it adds extra fuel at start up. anybody else using this newer prom for the 9 inj. setup? anybody know the part number? thanks, tom

Not sure of the part number, but you'd want to look for one from an '89...MAF, with no CSI. After '89, TPI's were SD, and used no MAF and a different ECM.

You do have the 165 ECM?

There is not a version you can buy off the shelf...this is something that you could custom program for.

I used the ARAP code as a base for my Eprom, and did the injector delete of the hardware. If you engine is in good shape, and in tune...you should see some significant gains from programming your own chip, even on the stock motor.

Is eliminating the 9th injector that easy? Just disabled it in the prom and remove the hardware? And is there any good reason for doing this?

If you do find a prom from an 89 TPI 305 AT, make sure it has the VATS deleted also.
