hooking up airbag?

How do I check if my airbag has been deployed?
my airbag light doesn't come on... how would I go about rehooking up my airbag?

can anyone offer some insight on this?

thanks

If your airbag was deployed you would have a lot white nylon parachute material hanging out of your steering wheel, you couldn't miss it.

But, Its not at all uncommon for an unscrupulous repair shop to just cut the bag off and put on a new cosmetic cover with newspaper or something behind.

Sorry, but I'm not really sure how to test the system. Probably not a great idea to go testing the resistance of the airbag with a multimeter, tho.

peal back the airbag where it meets the steering wheel and see if you can see white. the white is the airbag folded up in there. there is no way for a body shop to put a new cover over some newspaper to make it look like an airbag was there. any boss in there right mind wouldnt even think of that. a seriuos lawsuit is at risk if you are hurt and the insurance co. finds out. i have worked with airbags for about 4 years now and there is no way to repair them just replace them. your light should blink 7 times for the 7 sensors on your car. if it isnt blinking then check the fuse under the dash. if there is a fuse in there and it is good then you might have to take off the console and check the main sensor under the console. make sure it is plugged in. all airbag sensors and wires are bright yellow. do not plug any sensor back in with a good fuse in the SIR block of the fuse block. always take it out to service the airbag.

hey thanks for the posts guys... keep them coming please i'm tryin to learn more about the airbag system i really want to get it going... i also really don't want to give the dealer $1 800 to fix it!

I will check under the console for this connector that you speak of... are there others on the car I should check for connection?
I'll make sure tot ake the fuse out when working on teh system... when i put fuse in i'll make sure i'm clear so if the airbag blows i'm fine.

any more info guys? how about connections under the dash I see there are some yellows taged for the airbag where do they gO?

thanks a million,

garett
