OK this is going to be long... I have a deadspot when lightly applying the throttle from a stop. The car will start to accelerate and at about 1700 to 1800 rpm it totally cuts out and you can floor it from the deadspot and the car wont accelerate at all. I can let off the throttle and give it about 1/3 to 1/2 and it goes right past the spot just fine. It happens in all gears at close to the same amount of light load (like cruising down the highway).
Ive replaced the tps sensor and that didn't do anything. The car used to have a 305 tpi and would throw maf codes like 33 and 34 so i did all the usual crap like replacing the maf and the relays but nothing really seemed to fix it. When i put the 350 in it i got a chip from Ed Wright and the codes went away but they were replaced by the stumble. So now i have my 383 in it (finally) and still have the same damn stumble. I had a scan tool but it died on me when i finally needed it (of course!) Thought maybe you guys could give me some different ideas. Heres my engine info:
4-bolt main roller 383, comp cams xtreme roller 218/224 110 LSA, TFS twisted wedge heads, accel 24# injectors, superram, 58mm tb, wells maf, 1 5/8 shorty headers, 700R4, 3.27 bw rear.

It sounds like your computer is pulling out a lot of timing advance due to knock and this is killing performance. When you give it more throttle it then gets enough gas to richen the mixture and then it picks up. But that wouldn't explain why it wouldn't go at WOT at that RPM. Check fuel pressure and see what it's doing. Try checking the knock sensor and see if it's working properly and maybe replace it. It's fuel or spark, I'm betting spark and the computer is the culprit. Talk to Ed he might try burning you a chip with a richer mixture at that RPM that might solve the problem.
Well i finally got my scan tool working (its ancient) and i think the maf is the culprit When displaying the two airflow numbers while driving the numbers on the left would stop while the numbers on the right would continue rising. This would happen at the point of the deadspot. But now i just cant figure out why the maf is having a problem. l'll try to change the relays AGAIN and see if it changes anything. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
