TPI or Carb
Dig through the reader rides sections
most ones with pics have engine pics, and the description will tell you tpi from carb usually, so you can see the differences.
I was gunna put up some pictures but decided to avoid anybody getting pissed at me using their images as examples

TPI is this spider looking thing hugging the top of your motor..
Tuned Port Injection..
the plenum and runners are tuned to your engine while the port injection is exactly that.. an injector in every port..
in stock form, they usully die down (intake limitation) at around 4200 rpm.. but because of the tuned part and the percision (so close to) of injection of gas into the cyln. they make alot (well.. somewhat) more hp and tq then what was offered at that time when they came out.. it's computer controled, from the spark tables to the amount of fuel injected..
a carb is.. well.. a carb.
round thinny that sucks in air and dumps in fuel.. right on top of your motor.. it's not as percise as TPI but then it dosn't use a computer to contole it (more reliable, easier tuning) and cheeper to go bigger (if you get a higher performing motor) mini rams and supper rams are expensive (the step up from TPI) but a 750 or 850 cfm carb is alot cheeper and easier to tune then the computers..
neways..
