ok, just to make this short and sweet and hopefully the moderators wont kick this out, 89 iroc setup 2nd new alt, brand new batt, new cables 12V into both wires at the plug with key on, the alt charges reall slowly with nothing else on, put an amp guage between the alt and the batt and it reads a constant 30 with nothing on or everything, lights(on bright), heater, stereo.
any ideas before I throw this through checkers window?

its in series, the wire goes direct from the alt to the guage, and then to the batt, total length of the wire from alt to batt is less than 12" I have moved the alt to where the air pump used to be when I initially did the paxton conversion (didnt like the idea of an electrical source mounted below an oil reservior). Im also using some 8 guage amp wire I had left over from when I installed my amps its the monster cable stuff, should work just fine.

My only suggestion is that you check your ground cables. Both the battery-block and the block-chassis strap at the back of the engine. Both of mine were bad recently and they were causing me all sorts of problems.
