Idle Speed

I have a 1986 Trans Am 5.0 TPI. What's the right idle speed? Someone before me had messed with it and the sticker under the hood doesn't say. It pretty much just says don't touch the screw. thanks

Well, that tells him what the actual idle should be, but it doesn't say what the minimum air should be.
With the IAC extended and disconnected adjust the "idle" (aka minimum air) to around 500 RPM +/- 50 for auto trans, in gear. For manual trans it should be closer to 600 RPM in neutral.
When reconnected the IAC will maintain an idle of around 600 RPM in gear (auto trans)
