Why do TPI runners, or plenums and such go for like $80-$200 on ebay, but you can get an LT1 intake, which is complete, manifold to rails for around $200 ...in my case $100.
TPIS Big Mouth Manifold itself is like $440 shipped
for me to put LT1 intake on my car
Used LT1 intake w/ Rails $100
Modified by LT1intake.com $200
Fuel Lines $80
Remote T-stat bought and modified $65
Custom Chip $120, but free for me
$565 for complete, better, intake and chip. As compared to
say
$400 manifold
$300 SLP Runners (150-200 used)
$80 for used plenum
and whatever else, your allready up to 780 and not having as much power!

Few reasons, many people don't know about the LT1 intake. So choose not to do it even if they do know about it. Alot of people like the tpi setup for the way it looks and the amount of torque it makes. Lastly, some people want the stock look but want it to be faster than the stock tpi setup.
Or why not get a HSR? Its about the same price and it was made to fit your car. Plus if the HSR "breaks"(if there is defect in the intake) Holley will most likely replace it. Is John gonna do that for ya?

If the customer sends me a core to machine it is up to the customer to make sure he didn't buy a defective casting.

It's all relative. TPI parts are expensive, but try pricing headers for an LT1, or heads, or an optispark, etc. Induction parts on a TPI car aren't cheap, but overall, an L98 is still cheaper to mod than an LT1.

Thanks for the info on the going rates of 'em. I have a complete TPI setup with a stand alone wiring harness (so it can be put in any car/truck) that I guess may be a good time to sell

I've felt for a long time the pricing had nothing to do with supply and demand but rather what the manufacturers thought they could get for the parts based on who was buying them. Remember, the TPI was started as a Corvette thing. Numerous street rodders have swapped to TPI over the years. Some people are paying the price without blinking an eye. I said it before and I'll say it again, they drove the demand curve right to where its at with their pricing.
