Fuel pump. Did the search, have a few Q's.
Alrighty, I'm looking at the incredibly fun task of replacing my fuel pump. Since every shop around here wants 400+ to do it. First, aside from the pump could someone give me a run down on everything else I need, things like pulsators and socks and such have come up, but I'm not sure of they're functions, and if there's anything else I should swap out while I'm there.
Second, anyone got any pic's of the swap? Maybe a web page from someone that documented the process?
Lastly, anyone have any advice/comments for the "access hatch" method versus the drop the tank method?

Well, if you have a goodly amount of gas in your tank you'll need somehting to put it in and something to catch it as it drains out of the hose under the car. Or you could find a way of siphoning it out from the filler. There is one of the hoses under the car that you have to disconnect and when you do it pretty much drains your tank (don't remember which one it was when I did mine.)
But if you drop the tank you'll want it empty anyway, it is a heavy/awkward bugger even empty.

Well, I know that the pump has enough umph left in to bump the pressure up to about 20 psi. So I figured remove the filter and slip a hose over the fuel line. My van and my moms car needed some gas anyway.. But mostly what I'm wondering about is "sealing" the tank. I saw it mentioned in a few posts when I was searching for info.

I just replaced my fuel pump. I decided to just cut the hole. There was no way I was going to drop the tank. Shops around here wanted big money to do it. They also wanted to make money on the pump. They would not put in a pump I had already bought.
I used an electric nibbler to cut the hole worked great and was fast.
