86 305 to 350 swap?

Please help i am new to irocs! I just got an 86 iroc with a knocking 305 and a bad mass air meter i think (wont run above idle with mass air plugged in). i have a 80 350 truck motor i could rebuild for it, however my question is if i want to convert to speed density to avoid the cost of replacing the mass air meter do i need a new ecu and wireing harness and what year model chip would i run to copmensate for the 350.

Just get the 7730 ECM, and the chip from a 90-92 Speed Density setup. The wiring harness shouldn't matter. You might also need a different knock sensor. Good luck.

If you do a search for "Mike Davis" you'll find a link to his website. He did a MAF to SD swap. There are some minor modifications necessary to your harness, as well as to the knock sensor. Or you could just buy a Wells MAF with a lifetime warranty.

do a search for wells su 145. There's a place in buffalo that stocks them and gets $166 shipped. Cheapest MAF on the market, highest flowing on the market, most reliable on the market, and the only one with a lifetime warranty.

I'd do the search for you... but I'm too lazy. I bought one from the buffalo place. They shipped it fast, and so far it's working flawlessly.
