BLM's and Fuel Pressure Q's inside...

Ok if your not familiar with my car and its problems check this post out.

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=100937

Now for the update...Ede was right, and might I add a genius. I took my cars exhaust apart last saturday and found 3 leaks! Two on the drivers side flange, at # 7 and # 3, and one on the collector. I dropped the big bucks and got aluminium gaskets all the way around. Doing this not only made my car sound 100% better but also restored a ton of part throttle drivabillity. Before this fix I had high BLM's (as high as 144 sometimes) which is why Ede pointed me in the direction of an exhaust leak on the drivers side flange. I scaned it after the fix, yesterday, and my BLM's are at 114. I imagine my BLM's are low simply because I have my FP at around 50 psi making me run rich.

Now for the question...What do I want my FP at? Do I just keep lowering it until my scanner says 128/128 for my BLM/Integrator? Or is it more of a 'tune by feel' type of deal where I would just experement with it on the road and leave it where my car seems happiest? This car is a daily driver so I don't want to sacrifice milage for a few hp.

Any insight on this is much appreciated, thanks.

Stock or slightly above stock fuel pressure with the right size injectors and prom tuning for the 128/128 is what is Ideal.

If I'm not mistaken your car is maf??

In which case dont even worry about 128/128 because it will NEVER happen, if you can get a range from 124-132 you're gold.

You are correct, set your BLM on 128. Raising or lowering the
pressure is irrelivant because the ECM trims the BLM so that
the Integer is as close to 128 as possible anyway. The only
benifit to raising pressure is a better spray pattern from the
injector but can set a rich code if you bottom out the tables.

But yea, set the BLM on 128 and don't worry too much about
what the pressure guage says, you want to keep the ECM happy.

I actually run 19's at 52lb on my 350 for the benifit of the greatly
improved spray pattern but my pump is exposed in the the trunk
so I can swap it easily if the pressure kills it. It's not a daily
driver either, if it were I would run stock injectors at normal press.
I got my BLM to steady at 128-129 at an idle and called it good.

What kind of scan tool are you using? If it's a xp240, you will get a very vauge reading of the BLM's. You need to be able to see what the BLM's are doing across the rpm range. As far as the fuel psi, if you tune your chip @ a certain psi, you want to leave it at that psi. If you make anychangs to the fuel psi, it will effect the BLM's. You want to get as close to 128/128 as possible to get the best VE and hp. I think gurmpy stated something like, the more fuel and aggressive timming makes a "feeling of more power, instead you want a Perfect tune for max hp".... Otherwords, don't just go for the "feel" but rather a better tune since it yields the most hp.
