ZZ4 cam work w/ my CRATE MOTOR?
I've searched the archives, but dont know if those answers would apply to me since I have a new crate motor. Do I have to worry about too much lift? The zz4 cam's max lift is .474/.510. My engine is less than a year old.....a 9C1 caprice police crate motor. I'm pretty sure I'll need to put in some different springs....but anything else?

Welllllll.....
Considering We have No Idea what heads you have, its hard to say if thats too Much Lft.
My guess would be No, But Do you really feel like testing my guess ?
As far as It having a lt1 Bottom End, I don't think so

Nodular Iron cast crank
Hypereutic pistons
Lt1/Lt4 Powdered metal connectiong rods
factory hydraulic Roller cam (not an LT1 cam as I stated)
64cc, 1.94/1.50 cylinder heads (not LT1 as I stated)
So next time you wanna insult a guy by telling him he doesn't know what kind of motor he has.....take a look first. The LT1 is not a super engine...is it that far fetched that it shares the same parts w/ another motor? You think that just because you dont know what a 9C1 motor is means it's a POS? The caprice police car had this motor from '91-93...in '94 it changed to the LT1....the only changes made were the cam, heads, and intake....my motor has the SAME BOTTOM END COMPONENTS AS THE LT1. are you sure what's under your hood?

I believe it comes with 193 swirl port heads. You can use the ZZ4 if you get the retainers that lift .050 and use the LT4 or new ZZ4 springs. They need to install @ 1.750.
