is it possible to use an LT1 cam in a 305 TPI engine??

I just got a free LT1 cam froma friend of mine and I was wondering if I could use it in my 305 TPI engine, I've asked around and have been told that it is possible and I will get gains from it, but if I can, what kind of gains are we talking about here?

note: searched for info but found nothing.

I have the same 1987 305TPI 5-speed combo that you do and I looked into putting the LT1 cam in mine. If you look at the numbers they are not all that different. You would gain a small amount but you would gain something. prolly just enough to "feel" it. To me it wasn't worth all that work for a small gain. If you are doing other extensive engine work though and it wouldn;t be much more work to change the cam while your at it. then I would say to go ahead and do it.

All this is just my $.02

I have heard that the LT1 cam does work well in the 305TPI's though.
