What is this under my air filters?

I don't know if this is the right board but here i go. What are the plastic things under my air filters. They can be removed by loosening two screws. There are two under each filter. One is on the right and one on the left. It looks like all these things do is obstruct air flow.
Thanks
John

They are to prevent water from getting into the engine. Don't worry about that, just unbolt them and throw them in the trash. Better yet, cut the whole area under the filters out.

Throttle response= some
more power=depends on your application. it will certainly allow the car to breathe better at higher RPMs

Mr. Me-ogi says "more air flow through straight path than curved path" he also said "paint the fence, wax on, wax off."

Anyway, if you are still reading the answers to your questions were at the top of this post.
