heat sink fins??

What are these?? I've never heard fo them but I was reading a post on free mods and they said something about cutting heat sink fins. I'm going to the track wensday so I wanna do some free mods. I already have a cooler run themostat, gutted air boxes and removed the screens in the maf sensor. So if cutting the heat fins are worth it can some one explain where they are and any other tips to get a better et. Thanks

If you have taken the screens out of your MAF, then you will have
noticed the fins inside of the MAF. You would use a hacksaw blade
to cut them off at their base. Not an easy task but possible.

The stock flow is 530cfm which is good for about 250hp, removing
the screens adds 180cfm for a total of 710cfm which is good for
about 340hp, removing the heat sinks adds 40cfm for a total of
750cfm which is good for about 357hp assuming you modify the
rest of the intake accordingly.

If you want to do more you will need to remove the entire intake
manifold and open up the intake bores of the upper plenum by
matching them to the gasket and removing the two walls from
the plenum floor just inside the openings.

Next, gasket match the rest of the manifold components and clean
up anything that looks like it will hamper air flow. But modifying
the MAF won't do much without doing the rest of the intake. The
stock intake system flows about 575cfm and gasket matching
everything to the hilt and a bit more will get you about 700cfm
which is good for about 330hp.

You will of course need to add a mild cam, port your heads and
add some headers to get to the 330hp level.

What's in your wallet ????
