'88 TPI "extra" wire removal?
I really don't like "culling" wires from electrical systems, (especially when "hard" wired like this) but I *believe* that what I'm contemplating won't cause any adverse reactions (code throwing, limp home, etc) but I wanted to ask here. I figure there has to be at least a couple of people that would know.... : )
Basically have a complete '88 350 Camaro setup (manual trans) PROM, wiring, hardware, etc.
Going into an '86 (kind of) Chevy Full Size Blazer (K5). Manual trans, built with '74 parts for drivetrain (350, manual trans) , so no cat converter, no AIR, no EVAP, no AC, or EGR (as the truck sits now)
This http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/dia-pics/22-4.jpg ('86 TPI wiring manual from the tech section here) is exactly what I'm dealing with wire-wise, I've got the '88 electrical manual right here, and compared the harness/schematics to make sure.
What I would *like* to do, is cull the AIR (select and divert valve) and Cannister solenoid wiring shown on that above page. Keep the EGR (since the intake is setup for it, and I'd like to use it) but remove the rest of the wires.
As it sits now, I don't *have* any of the AIR parts, converter, or cannister, so even if I left the wires in the harness, it will be the same as removing them...there won't be anything hooked up to them (ever) so why not remove them? I can see that basically its 12v going into those connectors, and the ECM grounds the circuit when proper conditions are met. I wouldn't *think* the ECM would be monitoring for voltage on those ECM pins, but I just want to be safe. I hate cutting, but in this case, I just can't unplug those wires from the splice, (S175) or I would.
Before asking (I should have) I pulled the AC stuff out. Didn't cut anything, just pulled it all, removed the wires from the ECM connectors, and set it aside. I'll be running electric fans (hopefully) still ECM controlled later on, but I'll save that issue for later. Anyways, same deal. Will culling the AC stuff out of the harness, affect anything system wise, besides electric fan operation?
I don't have to worry about visual emissions testing in this state, and I can pass now "missing" the cat converter, AIR, etc., with a carb, so I don't think emissions will be greatly *increased* missing AIR/EVAP on the injected setup.
Thanks for any help!

I already have one done EXACTLY as described for what was gonna be my Chevelle. I decided I wanted a little luxury after I cut the stuff. Email me if you are interested. I would let it go pretty cheap. Its an '86 Harness.
