ROFLMAO.

Yeah, if you're going to spend all that money on a stroker kit (for a 305 too, oh boy), heads, intake and blower, yeah you might as well cut some corners and run a stock GM cam. I mean, the LT1 cam is so good that LT1 guys never swap it out.

Yes he's being sarcastic..I can't imagine why he even replied.
It depends on what your going to do with the car.If your gonna race it then get a bigger cam,but for daily driving or just cruising,it'll be fine.

Like I said, for a daily driven car it is definately an upgrade.I've got a 96 LT1 cam,and 1.6 rockers in my L98 and it runs great for a daily driven car.
A friend of mine's Dad is an engineer at SLP,and when I rebuilt my engine he asked what I was gonna do with the car and he suggested that cam with some ZZ3 springs.I added the 1.6 roller tips, bumped the compresion to 9.75,hogged the snot out of the L98 heads,headers,2500 stall convertor and somewhat ported the runners and intake(I did the plenum a few years ago).It now runs mid 13s so I'm happy with what I did.
I'm just getting into prom tuning,so maybe I can get a little more out of it....

You could use a stock L98 cam to run mid 13s with ported heads, 9.75:1 squeeze, 1.6 rockers, converter and ported runners/intake.

As to the original poster, did you read his plans. He's going to run great heads, big intake, and a blower. I caanot fathom a reason why after spending around $5k go fast parts you wouldn't run a REAL cam. Like i implied with sarcasm, if the LT1 cam was so great, then why do LT1 guys take them out and put something else in.

The LT1 cam is a nice upgrade over a peanut cam in a basically stock application. Other than that, considering the cam provides the heart and soul to your engines ability to make power i just don't understand why you would spend money on go fast parts and then run a STOCK GM cam. Spend the extra $200 on a real cam and i guarantee you will make A LOT more power. Cam is just not an area to waste time on, the only thing more vital to performance are the heads.
