Simple and effective. 4" pipe with a single connector to the TB. Ovalize the pipe and connect it. TIG weld an attachements.

This is on GP406Z's car from the power adder forum. Runs 10.36 on a 150hp shot from single nozzle NX kit.

The thing I never can figure out is where to route the CAI. I look down there and I just don't see a place to put the filter. I have the smog pump removed but I would think that relocating the EVAP cannister on the drivers side would be easier.

Any ideas guys?

Is that silicone hose on the TB 4"? And where would one buy it? Also does you air filter sit where the battery is? or did you cut through the sheet metal and have the air filter siting outside?

That isnt MY car.

You can go to a semi truck supply store and get 4" silicone.

I think www.force-efi.com sells it as well.

I ended up picking up some 4" intercooler hose from a semi to use for my own 4" air tubing.

You put the air filter either IN the battery tray (as in ontop of it) or cut a hole and run it underneath of it.

Not hard to do.

 

I had some shots of it in the car, but I got a litle overzelouse with the delete button. I may take some more pictures tomorrow. I have the radiator out now. I am installing anew one plus a trans cooler for my new mega raptor transmission. I have some pictures of the brackets and filter location if your interested

 

This is behind the head light notice the charcole canister has been moved.

 

here is the bracket which holds the air filter. There is another one coming of the radiator support to hold the elbow.

Read the whole post. I believe that he said it was 4" exhaust tubing that he bent with a vice to achieve the opening for the TB.

 

It says nothing about exhaust tubing in the above posts. That's why I'm asking...

I am not sure about the first post, but whatever type of pipe it is that engine is a fine piece of craftsmenship. From the welds I would guess it is exhaust tubing. Aluminum welds are usually much bigger.
My intake tract (since someone claims that it is not a CAI) is made from aluminum,, 6061 T6 .065 X 3.5 to be exact. I bought it from a material supplier online. It was approximately 30 dollars with shipping. I have about 4 feet left over. If you are interested I can dig up the name of the place I bought it from.

 

Good point about the welds, Dave. I'm interested in that 3.5" diameter aluminum pipe. If you want to sell a couple feet, let me know. I plan on buying 2 ft of straight 3.5" aluminum pipe, the vortech elbow in summit, and 1 90 deg 3.5" mandrel bend to fab this thing.

 

Here is the link where I purchased the tubing. I would sell you what I have, but I am building a new supercharged motor and I would like to keep some tubing on hand. They did not have that list on the bottom when I called them last. I had to request 3.5" tubing. Hope this helps.

D*mn, those two motors you guys have look really nice! Especially since they run 10's! That makes me want to go find a 3rd gen w/o a motor, trans, rear end, and go drop a 383 forged motor in it. With the TPIS zzx409 cam(i think thats what its called?) an over priced piece of aluminum(miniram) raptor trans(or any other strong racing trans) and a 9" rear, AFR heads, oh yeah the most important thing, an ATI procharger, gotta love that whistling noise! Those intakes really look nice, I wish I could use something like that on my car. Oh well, Very nice cars!

 

It`s 4"exhaust from a heavy truck parts store,used 3 90*s and a 45* fitting. About $90 in pipe($25-$30 per fitting) and a $40 12" cone K&N.Wanted a more rigid place to mount/aim the nozzle than rubber since it would move when nitrous was on,and it evolved into what you see,plus it looks better than the OEM stuff IMO.Car only went a few hundreths faster on or off nitrous with this.Oh well,nozzle stays pointed just right.
BTW,what`s a
true CAI? The filter is outside the engine bay.

Yeah, but i don't know a single person who has had to take off a miniram because it wouldn't seal the coolant passages though
