What hp did the 305 tpi make stock.

Thinkin' about swapping out the CFI on my 82 T/A for a TPI system. Can anyone talk me into it? It would be kind of a head ache. I good tuned and ported CFI system can put down some ponies too though...

Which year 305 TPI motor are you looking at? They Horsepower ranged from early on at 190 - 230HP in 1992. The low end torque capabilites of the TPI system as well as some after market bolt-ons really get the 305 going.

 

'85 305 TPI=215 HP 275 ft/lbs torque.
86+ 305 TPI=190 HP...not sure on the torque figures.

 

What differences gave the 305 230hp in 92? was it the dual cats and the conversion to the MAF style TPI?

 

90-92 were the Speed Density years - no MAF.

I believe there was a cam change around 89 or 90 too - from the anemic peanut cam to the heftier cam that the 350s came with.
