Interesting observation on stealth ram

well i just got my stealth in and the fuel rails should be here tomarrow...

after looking at the stealth and checking a few things.. i realized half of the old tpi stuff won't work on this manifold.....

when i recived mine it had a few factory stains on the upper plenum.... painting solved that very quickly....

overall this i feel is well worth the money i spent and if anyone has any questions about it please feel free to email me anytime....

I'll second that. What did you think you could resuse that you couldn't? Of the top of my head, you keep your TB and distributor, as well as TPS/IAC/CTS and just relocate the MAT. The rest should obviously not swicth over

yep...

well, i figured a few vaccum fittings and such would work...

also the coolant temp sensor that went in the front of the lower tpi manifold will only fit on the driver side hole next to the water neck.. it will require me to stretch the wire to fit...

also the tb bolts aren't the same thread either... i don't think that was mentioned... over all i guess these are just little things to tie up, but overall i didn't expect them...

i can't wait to get the fuel rails in so i can begin testing a few ideas i got...

How much did you pay for the SR total? We checked on it for my friends car(92 Z28), from Summit was like $2,000...I thought I saw it somewhere for around $800. I bought my Miniram right before the Stealth Ram came out, otherwise I probably would have went with it. I can't complain about the Miniram though, it was everything I thought it would be and more. I really think that intake has great potential, as it is built with a tunnel ram type intake...

I haven't run my car at the track in forever. The last time I took it was probably a year ago, and it ran a 13.7 at 102.8...that was without the Miniram, or the Holley TB, or the Holley Ign. Box, or the TCI converter...and probably alot of other things...I have spent a crapload of money on my car since then, and it runs really really well.

I ran a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago on the street, he has a 01 Z28 with a good bit of stuff done, and I smoked him bad...he runs 13.0's to 13.4's at the track we usually go to. But of course the street is totally different from the track...The track that is closest to us sucks ***...The better one is an hour and a half away. So I never go anymore. I would really like to see what it would do though...

I'll have a time slip for ya tomorrow

I took it about a month ago and burnt the clutches up in my 700R4 and some other crap because of a broken pressure switch in the trans (I have the older 700 with the single switch).

I ran a corrected 14.6 in that condition with like 3 second shifts

I dont expect much, I hope a high 13

I'll know for sure soon enough

Good luck, I hope you do well...I love to see thirdgen's giving the competition hell...I have had mine for 4 years, and love it...It needs a paint job and that's about it. I'll have to get a camera and post some pic's of the car and motor...my roommate has a digital one, but the quality of the pictures suck.

You can use a 1/2" to 3/8" brass reducer at the harware store for less than $1 and can use either hole on the passenger side for the CTS.

The first generation StealthRam uses the stock T/B bolts - you have to work with them to get them started right with the T/B in place though - it's tight. You do need 3 small 1/4" bolts to hold the T/B cable bracket on and different vaccum fittings (2) 1/8" NPT and (2) 3/8" NPT.

I also was not pleased with the quality controll,, or lack there of. Mine also has a few "factory" stains on the plenum,, and was filthy out of the box. No real big deal since I usually port or gasket match intakes,,, but still.

I thought the TB bolts were different at first also. I got an early one in April so unless they changed the threads they should be right. Like mentioned already, it wasn't a perfect fit. Had to jiggle them around a bit to get them to start, and that was after screwing each bolt in the hole to clean them up. Yes, also like mentioned, the throttle cable bracket bolt hose are 1/4-20... and again, like already mentioned... use a reducer on the front passenger side hole the the wires fit fine. I ran my PCV valve in the hole on the bottom. Everything else went in the back in whatever fitting I could find to work.

Good luck!

hmmmm

they must have changed the bo\lt hole for the tb...

the bolts that held the fuel rails on the stock tpi fit perfectly!!!

i tried using the stock tb bolts and the ones included with my nos kit.... they started but almost stopped imediatly.....

i'll give it a second look here in a minute....

My SR came already drilled for late-model heads..

Got my fuel rails today. Everything is top-notch AFAIcantell. I'm already looking at adding EGR and it looks pretty simple to do. Just gotta figure out just what will sit where.

Mine had stains too when I got it. A very obvious handprint (nasty one too, that doesn't wipe off) on the upper plenum.. The beeastards.. Not too worried since I'll have other plans for it's final appearance later..

hmmm

well the tb bolts are the same!!! i went and ran em through and figured what the hell.... sure enough once you put em through they match exactly......lol!!! that or i retapped my holes the hard way !!!!

my stealth came slotted for a newer/old style so it could be used for either.....

also my rails are polished!!! i don't know if holley makes them that way but i guess they do, or i got lucky!!!

i'm now thinking of selling my n20 kit..... i just can't figure out if i can part with it or not...... with a motor thumping out well over 475hp who really needs more for the street????
