couple of questions about LT1 intake
couple of questions about LT1 intake
alright I am in the process or looking for a third gen right now and I am planning if I get a 305 the swap to a 383 but I am wanting to use an LT1 intake because it sits lower than the stealth ram and I should not have any clearance problems. What I am wanting to know is if I have a 305 TPI and swap out to a 383 (crate engine/or built locally) it should be fairly the same kind of conversion from a TPI to LT1 intake right meaning it should still work or does this matter of what year motor etc? I was planning on the newer style heads so that should not be a problem. Also what does an LT1 pull to low to mid 6000 RPM's or higher?
The LT1 intake will work *best* on late model heads, short of that a GEN1 sbc is all you need (pre lt1 small block). As far as the power range on a 350 I've been hearing that its pulling just as strong down low as the TPI, but the beautifull thing about the LT1 intake is how far you can take it (to the mooooooooon). It will easily rev beyond what your average SBC can take. If you're getting a 383 and haven't started let me recommend either a 4 bolt or a splayed 2 bolt and some solid roller lifters so you can use that LT1 intake the way it was designed
Enjoy

Great because that is what I am gonna do. no I have not bought anything yet in fact I am still trying to sell my 78 Trans Am then purchase a car with that money and I already have 4,000 saved up for the 383/396 LT1 intake and other goodies. Do you recommend getting a block and having it all done somewhere locally if I can find a good shop or do you know of any respectable crate 383's (500 HP or more) that would be a decent swap to an LT1 intake?
