ok, i just bought an 89 Iroc 350 TPI the guy told me that it had a rod bearing going out, I took it to work today and had the two mechanices that work there look at it, they said it has a rod that knocking. My question is where can i get a good rebuild kit for cheap? The motor just needs to last another year, then i am taking the engine building class at the college

well summit and jegs sell some good kits but, if you been driving on it and from what it sounds like you have plus who ever you bought it from you may need a new crank and rod. once the bearing spins it really chews stuff up quick. you could have the crank ground and so on but, sounds like you will be seeing a machine shop with what ever you do.

 

well, the guy i bought it from had the fuel pump go out on him over a year ago, he said that it didnt know then, then in march this year he put a new pump in, then I started making payments to him, so he parked the car, I jsut finished paying him off, and the car has only been driven 100 miles or so with the rod knocking, so hopefully it wont have messed the crank up.
