TPS - resistance ?
Dear Friends !
- I have problem wit TPS
at last my camaro TPI 5,0 display code 33, naturall I
make total panic and made full diagnostic ( with my own
bullid max232 inteface for Craig Moats program ) and I have observed that TPS on WOT is only 1,1 V ( other sensors - OK )
I have measure resistance on TPS for idle
- it shown 0,54 and 6,7 kOm and for WOT only 1,1V and
ca 3,4 kOm - OK, I think that my TPS is dead but I be very
grateful if somebody could tell me where can I find about
TPS resistance in depend on throtle open in %,
resistance on WOT etc ; what open throttle % should be
on WOT ??? 100% or 75% ????? THX

Most people don't check their TPS by resistance, you jumper into it and check the voltage on the middle terminal (or with a scan tool) If you're getting 0.54V at closed throttle and 1.1 @ WOT then your tps is bad (or something really weird like your ECM or the wiring is messed up, but doubtful)
If you want to get an idea of what the resistance should do though, the TPS is just a pot. Measure the resistance across the top and bottom terminals. The TPS just works like a voltage divider, with 5V across the total resistance. So if your total resitance is 100k ohm (random number, not correct):
- at closed throttle you should see 10k between the middle and bottom terminals (10/100 * 5V = 0.5V)
- at WOT you should see anywhere from 80-100k ohm (80/100 * 5V = 4V = ~minimum TPS for 100% throttle in the ECM)
Also, the resistance should vary smoothly across the range.
Does that help
